Co-Founder Mitchell Joachim is the 2009-10 Frank Gehry International Visiting Chair in Architectural Design in the Daniels Faculty. "How can our cities extend into the suburbs sustainability? We propose to put our future American dwellings on wheels. These retrofitted houses will flock towards downtown city cores and back. We intended to reinforce our existing highways between cities with an intelligent renewable infrastructure. Therefore our homes will be enabled to flow continuously from urban core to core.

"MADE presents Radiant Dark 2011 - Assets & Values -"

- 33 Design Studios create over 40 new design pieces -

A modern, Canadian Exhibition featuring the work of 33 design studios
with 35 new works by 42 individuals.

Julie Nicholson and Shaun Moore of MADE have conceived Radiant Dark as a means to explore some of the multi faceted options of modern Canadian design practice. A continuing goal is to present a stimulating theme for each year which invites public engagement with the work of emerging Canadian designers.

The 2010 theme of - Assets & Values - shows the makers of Radiant Dark to be reckoning with material, moral, ideological and aesthetic mores in their design of everyday objects. The current economic obsession demands an authentic and individual assessment of what constitutes real worth or value. The independently created works on display; reflect their maker’s determination to realize their ideas while creating something of meaning and value to others.

MADE intends Radiant Dark to show in a fresh venue each year that invites a sense of discovery. Commerce Court as venue sponsor provides an intelligent backdrop for Radiant Dark 2010 - Assets & Values - in the lobby of Commerce Court West - the financial heart of Toronto at King and Bay streets.

33 Studios will present 35 new designs for Radiant Dark 2010 - Assets & Values - through the efforts of 42 individuals who are independent Canadian designers, makers, architects, artists and craftspeople.
