An Exhibition featuring drawings and paintings by Joan Goldfarb.

Women’s lives have multiple facets. Perception is not reality for most. There is an expectation of serenity, of beauty, of nurturing, of calm. There is often a reality of anxiety, of stress, of intelligence, of postponement, of guilt, of ambition.

I think of fracturing, of fragmentation, of disintegration and of decay. I think of external perception as opposed to knowledge - of questions unasked and questions unanswered.

All these thoughts came together to produce this set of images.

A rose at its loveliest is already dying ... but there can be so much more.

An Exhibition of a new paintings by emerging Toronto artist Kate Domina.

Kate Domina's stylized portraits explore the imagination and perspective of children. Fear, naivety, omnipotence and paranoia seep their way into the faces and demeanor of her young subjects. In her newest series of oil paintings, Domina’s unique whimsical style finds a narrative to call home as illustrations for a children’s book titled; The Day They Blew Away. Author Tamara Salpeter’s text is paired perfectly with Domina's playful images to tell the story of young siblings who are flown into another world on a kite

Mark Adair's Death's Children is a new series of small charcoal drawings that completes Death Drinks, a narrative about the adventures of Death in the modern world. Adair has worked on and off on the series for a decade and it has been exhibited in many shows in various stages of development. Both the subject matter and the labour intensive and detailed style of the work are inspired by the art of the difficult and dangerous 14th Century in western Europe.

An Exhibition of work by Mary Catherine Newcomb.

Mary Catherine Newcomb's spring exhibition at Loop features a 4' long reclining "chocolate" hare. The hare regards the viewer balefully and actually consists of a malleable material that smells slightly oily or rancid. A suspended oversized apple blossom crown that is made from copper, bronze and steel accompanies the rabbit. While heralding the beginning of spring, this exhibition juxtaposes ideas about beauty, illusion, consumption and our complex and often romantic relationship with nature.
