Three centuries ago, a series of events culminating on the snowy night
of the 14th day of the 12th month, 1702 (January 30, 1703, in today’s calendar)
would shake and alter Japan and the world’s perception of that country.

An Exhibition featuring a original 18th – 19th century woodblock print
illustrations of theatrical performances of the story of Chushingura
et artistic depictions of the actual ronin masterless samurai.

the Artists will exhibit their art works that reflect their time in Nunavut.

Since 2006, artists Monsieur Paul Mantrop, Monsieur Rob Saley and more recently, Monsieur Andrew Qappik, began teaching art to Inuit youth in Rankin Inlet, located
on Hudson Bay in the Kivalliq Region of Nunavut. Last year, the program took place
in Whale Cove, a hamlet of 430 people. The Whale Cove Art Camp was a great
success and plans to take the camp to other smaller communities in Kivalliq began.

Proceeds from the exhibition will go to fund upcoming Art Camps. If you would
be interested in supporting an upcoming camp, please contact us for more details.
